An antique Caucasian Shirvan rug. Five and one half-octagonal Memling guls occupy the majority of the nearly black field of this east Caucasian scatter from either the Shirvan or Kuba areas. The ivory chalice and slanted, serrated leaf main border is a Caucasian favorite, and the carnation guards are found in both types.
