A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A zig-zagging basket-work pattern in sand repeatedly crosses the light brown field. The narrow border varies in pattern on the sides with larger or smaller reserves in black, red, straw or sand. End borders in black and sand with symmetric layouts. A severe, formalist, rigorous piece, probably from the early 1930’s. The Jazz Age ebullience is gone and a sober taste has set in.
