An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. The light graphite ground of this NW Persian city oversize carpet displays a classic Persian pattern of a large lattice defined by bitonal serrated leaves whose cells enclose various palmettes including amphora iris palmettes. The light brown main border features palmettes alternating with square bud grid arrays also in the 17th century Kerman manner.
