A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Currency rug! This heavily inscribed “money rug” shows no evident denomination, but has a straw ground with ovals of the lion and sun, and a Qajar king, so before about 1923. Can’t spend it, with split leaves and corner cartouches. Main Saraband-style ecru border with suspended botehs and a trapezoidal meander.
