This piece features a wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Marigold, denim, straw, and dark brown rain down randomly from the top end of the field. As one moves along the carpet, the brown decreases and the marigold increases, giving the design an informal sense of directionality. The rug is framed by a fret and cloud-head ‘Yun-tsao Tou’ border system.
