A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This small village scatter rug features a slate field with the characteristic Malayer interpretation of the Herati design, including a central train of fringed diamonds flanked by traditional Herati rosettes and palmettes, along with tiny botehs at the sides. A light straw strip-style border frames the piece, adorned with finger-fringed, upstanding, and reversing palmettes in a broken meander.
