Vintage Persian Pictorial Bakhtiari Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The Qajar Persian emblem of the sword-bearing lion with a rising sun at his back, is repeated nine times in groups of three in rows, alternately facing left and right. The ecru, dark brown and tawny lions contrast with the elongated red field. Natural grey wool abrashed triangular corners. Near black main border with grey cartouches. A particularly large Gabbeh combined with the local lion rug motif.
