Vintage Persian Pictorial Shiraz Rug

A wool pile with symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The scarlet field of this tribal Lion Rug is centered by a white lion, its pelt adorned with graffiti-like markings. Large flowers and smaller animals are scattered throughout the field, while ragged rosettes appear in the dark blue corners. An ecru border, predominantly featuring floral quatrefoils, frames the entire design. Likely Qashghai work.
