A vintage Persian Tabriz carpet. A basically three column design of cartouches and trees is taken literally from carpet book illustration of 17th century Khorassan archetypes. The wine brown field is framed by a period correct border of escutcheon palmettes and jagged, tilted leaves. This NW Persian city carpet comes from the 1920’s when copying of classical carpets was especially popular.
