A vintage Persian Tabriz Pictorial rug. The rust-red field displays the sculptor/mason Farhad working on the mountain above the maiden Shirin as told by Nizami in his poem “Khusrau and Shirin”.There is a narrow ivory central border of reversing simple palmettes. The weave is fine and the design is freely adapted from a Persian miniature painting.
