A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. This piece presents an Afghan Ersari Turkmen pattern of three-by-six octagonal guls reduced to their design essentials. A double gridwork positions the guls, while oblique bars are grouped into minor guls, all set on a bone field. The main eggshell border carries a shadow diagonal pattern. The overall tonality is light, with crisp drawing throughout except in the border.
