A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. Kars is part of the Greater Kazak Weaving Area, and it is not unexpected to find giant Kazak rugs woven there with purely geometric designs. Here the “Three Medallion” Kazak pattern is interpreted as three similarly shaped, stepped medallions floating on a densely dotted open field. The main light blue border displays perky, isolated domestic fowl.
