A vintage Turkish Herekeh carpet. Herekeh, near Istanbul, has been weaving fine carpets in the Persian manner since the later 19th century. A dense millefleurs pattern closely fills the dark blue ground of this relatively narrow room size carpet. Precise, delicate patterns appear again in the octofoil medallion and corners. Cypresses, found in every Middle Eastern garden, alternate with floral segments in this most elegant weaving.
