A vintage Turkish Oushak carpet. The pearl grey field of this western Turkish scatter has a pattern of diagonal palmettes and ogival trellis vines taken almost directly from an illustration of a 17th century “Vase carpet”. The arching arabesque border is also derived from the same source.
