A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation, the attractively striated abrashed denim blue field features an abstract geometric pattern of nested, stepped horizontal motifs set within a conforming four-section radiating shape—either an 'X' or 'H' shape with large square corners. The design is easy to see but hard to explain, lending it visual strength. The simplified 'clouds and rain' Yun-tsao Tou main border is executed in a more traditional Khotan style. In as-new condition.
