An antique Caucasian Karabagh carpet. Karabagh is the most Persianate of all Caucasian rugs and this one is very Persian indeed with its dark brown field displaying an allover Herati pattern and the beige main border in a reversing turtle palmette repeat. Could easily pass as a Malayer or Mahal in the right light.
