A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This unusually patterned Hamadan-area village carpet features a slate field with a relatively well-balanced, allover, moderately scaled Herati design. Herati patterns are rare in Bibikabad carpets of this period. The camel-colored strip-style main border displays a spacious version of the reversing turtle palmette pattern, flanked on each side by pairs of reversing fan palmette minors.
