A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The abrashed soft ruby madder field shows an unusual stiff lattice with two types of rosettes and small, ivory tangerine blossoms. The teal strip style main border features simplified, stretched turtle. A vast majority of Heriz carpets are in medallion layouts and so this piece is rare both in palette and pattern. The strict formality of design indicates that it was a custom creation made in the immediate post – WWI period.
