A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This c.1920 workshop piece shows a slate field hosting openwork dumb bell cartouches, dynamic forked arabesques, various palmettes and several varieties of petal rosettes, in an all-over, three column layouts. The pattern is very well balanced in all directions. The red-brick strip style main border features ecru reversing turtle palmettes, rosettes and serrated “fish” leaves. Robustly woven with top quality tribal pile wool.
