A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. Here five offset rows of complete, abrashed, teal acanthus wreaths are each centered by roughly sketched triples of roses, on a navy indigo ground. The design is evidently taken from a European textile in the 18th century French manner. Ivory main strip style border with repeating modules of the “tangerine flower” rosette and triple bud pattern. Robustly woven from an accomplished urban Kurdish workshop, probably in Garrus.
