A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Attributed to the famed Mohtasham workshop, this portrait weaving depicts the last Qajar Shah, Ahmad Shah, in ceremonial semi-military garb, wearing an aigretted fez, epaulettes, sash, belt, and decorations on his tunic. The portrait is set against a camel-colored, niche-shaped field, under black spandrels adorned with arabesques. The main border features identifying and laudatory inscribed cartouches.
