A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A standing king impales a confronting lion with his dagger, beneath a cusped arch, set against a midnight blue ground. Spirally fluted lateral colonettes with lion capitals frame the scene. Powder-colored spandrels feature lion and bull combats, reflecting generally Persepolitan imagery. A small identifying cartouche appears in the field. The cochineal red border is decorated with palmette scrollwork. Lavar high-quality craftsmanship.
