An antique Persian Mahal carpet. The red ground is almost completely obscured by a large hexagonal outline lattice with four flowers cruciform in each cell. The pattern is drawn fairly large and geometric. It seems to be rare, if not unique. No Mahal samplers with this design are known. The well-abrashed royal blue border is in a popular Mahal palmette and rosette style.
