A Wool pile with asymmetric knots on an all-cotton foundation. The ecru field displays an incredibly balanced allover Herati pattern—remarkably so for a village weaving—with a subtle overpattern created by the Herati modules, which form broken diagonals and cross lines when viewed from a distance. It is still a Herati pattern, though. Traditional patterns often give rise to second-glance designs, as seen in this case. The rust strip-style border features reversing turtle palmettes, with yellow and green especially prominent in the border.
