A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation, the well-filled red field features five complete offset rows of oval medallions, each uniformly edged with thin, straw-colored, barbed surrounds. These medallions are separated by rows of finger-fringed lozenges with radiating profile palmettes. The ecru border is decorated with reversing turtles. This is a very unusual field pattern.
