A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Five elliptical clipeate portraits of Qajar dignitaries, including at the center a portrait of Ahmad Shah. The lac field shows an aroid, flowers and long, leafy stems. The unusual ecru border shows weeping willows and seven posy upright flowers. The five figures are all named. Ahmad was the last Qajar ruler and this is an historical carpet.
