An antique Persian Shiraz runner. The ten lozenge pole medallion everywhere edged in angular latch hooks centers the oyster field with its myriad scatter of small birds, probably peacocks. This exceptionally long south Persian Fars Province tribal runner was surely woven as a special commission as neither tents nor local houses would properly accommodate it. The ‘crab’ main border is infrequently seen on Fars tribal weavings.
