A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This city carpet is unusual for its saturated palette, continuous and bold border, rare format and striking palmette allover design on an ecru-old ivory ground. No Herati, no standard design at all, but strong palmettes and rosettes, and a well-executed trope of sickle leaves passing over smaller rosettes. This latter concept is particularly attractive in its three-dimensional effect. Not for everybody, but an urban carpet with a real rustic sense.
