This piece features a wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The light field displays rows of classic Khotanese octagons enclosing hooked X’s, alternating with side-to-side stems that develop spindly branches and barbed narrow leaves. The design is framed by a well-defined, polychrome ‘Yun-tsao Tou’ main border. It combines traditional elements with forward-looking compositions.
