A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A giant tawny tiger skin, with a barbed-wire tail extension, is spread out on the buff-colored ground. The Tibetan origin of the design is clear, though it has never been executed so dramatically, nor on such a large scale. The black spinal cord is composed of small, interconnected ovals. The rust-buff main border features widely spaced, simplified cloud heads arranged in a reciprocal pattern.
