This well-woven picture rug depicts a grisaille-toned stone relief of an Achaemenid king, probably Xerxes or Darius, enthroned with his vazir, attendants, courtiers, and bodyguard. The scene is framed by mouldings featuring Ahuramazda, rosettes, and parades of lions.
