A Wool pile with symmetric knots on a wool foundation. Kars carpets are typically set on red-brown grounds, and this example features two pairs of twin cartouches arranged vertically, each surrounded by richly fringed green stars. Each pair of cartouches is set within its own dark red hexagonal panel. One section includes two small human figures. The narrow border displays floating modules, each with four radiating flowers, a design element commonly found in various Turkish village rugs.
