A wool pile with asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation, the ascending, one-way pattern of cypresses and profusely flowering trees is adapted from 16th-century Persian jungle or 'paradise park' carpets, here set against a light blue field instead of the usual red. The typical prowling predators and innocent ungulates are absent. The rust-colored main border features a complex, multi-level light blue strapwork design and tilted cypresses. An extra narrow border appears at one end of the field only. Many of the finer Interwar Lahore carpets replicate or reinterpret classical designs.
