A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This unusual city carpet displays a rust- red field decorated with flowering posies with stems and leaves, accented by rosettes and palmettes detailed in near black. Minor borders with pseudo-Islamic inscriptions. Main border with slender, spiral vines and six squares-in-circles with Chinese seal script characters. An odd mix of influences that turned out right.
