A vintage Persian Tabriz Pictorial rug. On an abrashed middle blue ground, under drawn-back curtains, a shah, or some important dignitary, in traditional costume, is seated on a red throne-chair. Who is he? No inscription identifies the subject, but he wears a hat with a small crown rather than a turban. A clue? The close weave indicates an urban source.
