Asymmetric knots on a wool foundation. The ecru field features a well-balanced diamond lattice of green, sharply serrated leaves, interspersed with rosettes containing four radiating blossoms. This design has been popular for probably two centuries in Northwest Persia, mainly on runners and long rugs, but it works perfectly here in a larger context. The brisk red border turns the corners and displays a version of the rosette design, with a three-floret "tangerine flower" design.
