Vintage Persian Bakhtiari Tribal Room Size Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Richly colored in saturated tones, this village piece shows a maroon field supporting a basically three column design of symmetrized flaming palmettes, serrated stiff leaves, irregular cartouches and floret sprays. Buff border is in strip style with paired right angle leaves embracing tilted palmettes, and inward palmettes. An attractive village carpet with a strong, upwardly moving pattern.
