A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a wool foundation. This tribal pictorial presents a portrait of the famed poet Nizami Ganjavi, 1141-1209, on a cream sub-field, with stepped blue corners. Mid-blue border with rosettes. Nizami is bearded and wears a small draped turban and cloak, in bust length. Nizami is second only to Firdausi in the pantheon of Persian poets and is famed for his Khamseh collection of long, lyric poems.
