Zilu weft-faced technique in cotton. This thick blue and white flatweave features a field of small squares and diamonds, framed by full-length side and short end borders with varied bitonal mosaic patterns. The piece is complete and intentionally reveals the structural workings of the zilu loom. The technique, which relies on a simple bitonal palette, is currently practiced in only one workshop in Iran.
