A wool pile with symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This popular Malayer allover design, commonly found on scatters with slate or blue grounds, features various octagons, numerous types of squares, straight stems and branches, and crown-like palmettes. This design is exclusive to Malayer rugs and is not typically seen in room-sized pieces. The straw border is adorned with rust-yellow pyramidal palmette details. It is very rare to find a dated Malayer, especially one so boldly marked.
