A wool pile with symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. With domed mosques in the distance, the figure of ‘Ali kneels on a white sheepskin, holding a sword, representing him as Sayf ul-Islam, the Sword of Islam. Partial palm trees frame the portrait laterally. The sandy ground behind and beneath is dotted with tufts of grass, while a medium blue sky stretches above. Finely woven.
