A vintage Persian Tabriz Pictorial rug. From Tabriz in NW Persia, this finely woven urban pictorial depicts the ruins of the mosque of the Ilkhanid Shah Oljietu near Tabriz, with its remnants of glazed tiles. A loaded camel, chickens and local peasants appear in the foreground and a striped tent of a produce vendor shows at the right, ready for the gaping tourists. The red border features vases and a sinuous vine with multiple floral spray varieties.
