A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. An Op-Art striped drapery sets off this important Persian dignitary, with a boteh-patterned shawl fabric coat, over a pale blue robe with belt, sash and medal. The rolled-up papers in his hand indicate him to be an important figure, only amplified by his tall black hat and his dense, dark beard.
