A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. Qashghai tribal work. A rust-red lion with a graffiti patterned coat faces right on the open red sub-field. The surrounding ecru field shows stylized roses and dots in the corners and merges into the border with geometric striated leaves and square rosettes. Qashghai lion rugs were originally adaptations of British Army blankets of WWI.
