A wool pile with symmetric knots rests on a cotton foundation. While not truly a lion rug, it instead features two plump pigeons (?) warily eyeing each other across a plain red field. The semi-realistically rendered birds are depicted in shades of straw, cream, crimson, light blue, and near black. The entire piece is framed by a reciprocal crenellation border in royal blue and red.
