A Wool pile with symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The significantly abrashed plum field features six columns of ten stepped Memling guls each, in shades of green, ecru, and dark brown, enclosing stars, nested lozenges, jagged rosettes, and hooked lozenges. Secondary stars fill in the spaces. A very narrow brown border with small hourglass figures surrounds the design. The Memling guls are an old Turkish motif, but here they are packed together without a formal frame, with considerable variety in color and interior design among them.
