Vintage Turkish Anatolian Small Room Size Carpet

Wool symmetrically knotted pile on a wool foundation. The strongly abrashed brownish-red field features corner pieces with three giant petals and a single stamen, positioning a central hexagon that encloses an eight-point star. Straw and other light-tone details accentuate the design, with small secondary hooked motifs. The straw main border is adorned with lateral blossom chains. The heavy, solid rustic texture is characteristic of Kars carpets, which have started appearing in the last decade and are individually quite unique. The patterns do not appear to be serially produced.
