A wool pile with symmetric knots on a cotton foundation, this piece appears to be two halves sewn together down the middle, but it is actually a single whole. The straw-beige ground features two parallel, three-section pole medallions, each consisting of three hexagons accented in moss green, with ivory box foci at the center. Small hooked squares provide a secondary motif. The narrow red border is adorned with herringbone trees, lollipop flowers, and slanted, serrated leaves. Kars carpets are a recent discovery, and this elongated specimen is an excellent example.
