Wool pile with symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The rose-brown open field features a single column of three oversized, charcoal rough diamonds, each uniformly enclosing ragged sub-medallions adorned with palmette cruciforms. The green main border displays colorful rosettes at the ends and a trapezoidal meander sprouting blossoms along the sides. The piece is finished with warp macramé ends. These large village carpets appear to be a post-WWII innovation, as earlier Kars examples, while still geometric, tend to be smaller and more aligned with the Kazak style.
