An antique Caucasian Shirvan rug. Five polychrome quartered diamonds with matching side fillers are closely grouped on the dark blue ground of this well woven south Caucasian antique rug. The ivory main border has a “wedgie shoe” geometric version of the interlocking dragon pattern. An authentic village rug with an exceptionally wide color palette. Moghans, from the SE Caucasus, are rarer and more desirable than the more numerous Shirvan rugs made just to the north of them.
